The Mental Calculation World Cup 2024
will be held on 13-15 September 2024 in Paderborn, Germany.
The best mental calculators from all over the world are invited to
the 10th Mental Calculation World Cup.
Date: 13-15 September 2024
Venue: Heinz
Nixdorf MuseumsForum, the world's largest computer museum in
Paderborn, Germany
Schedule and rules: Each mental calculator will have to solve
tasks in different categories (addition, multiplication, extracting
roots, calendar from memory and surprise tasks).
Registration: please send registration form (see below) by
e-mail to info@recordholders.org.
The deadline for registrations is 15 June 2024. We cannot
guarantee that registrations arriving after this deadline can be
taken into consideration.
The number of participants is limited to 40. If more people register
for the event, the organizer will select the participants who
qualify. For improving your chances in the qualification please
submit documentation about previous results at mental calculation
events, other mental sports contests or verified achievements with
the Memoriad software.
Memoriad results should be clearly documented (category, number of
correct answers, time). These results must be confirmed by a witness
with some background in mental calculation (for example a
mathematics teacher or a university researcher who works in a field
close to mathematics). The documentation should include a
confirmation signed by this witness. Additionally, the qualification
of the witness should be documented (for example, by scanning their
business card showing their professional position).
Titles and Prizes: All participants will receive
certificates. Successful record attempts will be registered as
world record.
The participant with the best total score will be awarded the title
"World cup champion - combination". The participant with the best
score in the surprise tasks will be awarded the title "World cup
champion - most versatile calculator".
The winners in the categories "addition", "multiplication",
"extracting roots" and "calendar calculation" will be awarded the
title "World cup champion for (category)".
Memoriad will sponsor the flight tickets and accommodation of MCWC
2024 four category winners (addition, multiplication, square roots,
calendar) to Memoriad in the UAE in
November 2024.
Problems to solve: Examples for problems to be solved in
previous competitions can be found at the bottom of the results list
of the years 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010 , 2012, 2014 , 2016, 2018 and 2022.
Organizational stuff: Participants have to book and pay their
hotel rooms. Information about hotel reservations can be found here.
The participants will not have to pay an entry fee and they
will not receive a fee for their participation. However,
accompanying persons will have to pay a fee (about 100 € per person)
for social events, catering, etc.
Please contact us soon enough if you need a formal invitation letter
for visa purposes. Keep in mind that in some countries visa
formalities can take a long time!
